Evan Bayh, soon to be former Indiana Senator has indicted the entire State of Indiana for its lax and cheap policies regarding public education in Indiana. In this article, he is quoted as saying that the well-being of his sons is better served out of this state.
Remember that this is a conservative state. It used to be that the cons said such issues as education should be local. they said it when the civil rights struggles of the 1960's came about. Now, the conservatives say they want to centralize the public education process by taking all budget decisions out of the hands of the very same local authorities they used to champion. And yet, the only reason it seems that scores are improving is that the teachers and administrators are finding better ways to cheat.
